About Arjun Gupta

Arjun began playing squash at the age of seven at the Granite Club in Toronto, where his father, Ajay, first introduced him to the sport. He completed his elementary and high school education at Bayview Glen School in Toronto, where his core values were shaped and his academic and athletic passions began to flourish.

His squash career gained national prominence in 2004 when he won the Boys U13 Canadian Junior Championship under the guidance of coach Jamie Nicholls.He continued his success by capturing the Boys U15 US Junior Open title in 2005 and the U19 Ontario Championship in 2008 while training with coach Mike Way. Later that year, Arjun showcased his talent on the international stage. As a member of Team Canada, he earned a medal at the Pan American Junior Championships in Lima, Peru.

Under the mentorship of Jonathan Power, Arjun helped Canada achieve its best historical finish at the 2010 World Junior Championships in Quito, Ecuador. Alongside teammates Nicholas Sachvie, Andrew Schnell, Tyler Osborne, and coach Jonathan Hill, he secured victory in the decisive match against England to earn the bronze medal. Arjun later starred at Cornell University, where the team achieved a fourth place finish at the 2011 NCAA varsity squash championships.

After graduating from Cornell University and Brooklyn Law School, Arjun returned to Canada and continued to excel competitively. In 2018, he captured first place at the Canadian Mixed Doubles Championships with Stephanie Edmison and won the Ontario Open Doubles title with Will Mariani. In 2019, he partnered with his brother Amar to earn the bronze medal at the Canadian Doubles Championship.

During this period, Arjun mentored the next generation of junior players alongside coach Jim Paton at the Granite Club, both on and off the court. He was part of one of the most accomplished cohorts in Canadian junior squash history, achieving excellence in competition while placing equal importance on friendship, family, and the close knit community that defines the sport.
